Boards & groups

Boards hold your tasks; groups organise your boards. Groups are how you keep some work private and share the rest with the right people.

My Boards

Everyone starts with a private group called My Boards. It’s yours alone — nobody else in the workspace can see it, so it’s the natural home for personal tasks and anything not ready to share. New boards you create land here unless you put them somewhere else.

Shared groups

Create a shared group for work a team does together. Everyone with access to the group sees its boards, so groups are the unit of “who sees what” — see inviting people for how roles and group membership combine.

Moving a board between groups

Open a board’s settings and change its group. A couple of rules keep things safe:

• You can’t move a board out of a group that’s linked to a WordPress site — those groups are sealed so sync stays intact.
• You can’t move a board into a locked integration group.

Private groups for client work

Because a private group is visible only to its owner, agencies use private groups to keep each client’s work separate. Combine that with the Vault for secrets like logins, and encryption for descriptions, and client work stays genuinely private.

Groups and other features

A group is also the boundary for some other features:

• Encryption keys are per-group, so you can encrypt one group and not another.
• Public boards live alone in their own group, so publishing one can never expose a private sibling.

The short version: boards live in groups, and the group decides who can see them. Keep private things in My Boards or another private group; share work by putting its board in a shared group.
