The board

The board is where your work lives. It’s a set of columns (stages of work) filled with cards (your tasks). Move a card from left to right as the work progresses.

Columns

Columns represent the stages your work moves through — for example To do, In progress and Done. You can:

• Rename a column by clicking its title.
• Add a column with the + at the end of the row.
• Reorder columns by dragging them.

A new board starts with a few sensible columns, and an empty board gets a To do column automatically so there’s always somewhere to put your first task.

Cards

Each card is a task. The card shows the essentials at a glance — title, priority, due date, assignee and labels — and clicking it opens the full task panel.

Drag a card between columns to change its status, or up and down within a column to reorder it.

More than one way to look at it

The board (or kanban) layout is the default, but it’s not the only view. You can also see the same tasks as a calendar or a table, whichever suits the job. Switch views from the picker at the top of the board.

Where boards live

Boards are organised into groups in the sidebar. Everyone gets a private My Boards group to start with; you can add shared groups for team work.

The short version: a board is columns of cards. Rename and reorder columns to match your process, drag cards through them as work moves, and switch to calendar or table views when they suit the task better.
