Connecting a WordPress site

Coalface Tasks syncs natively with WordPress: create a task in either place and it appears in the other. This guide covers connecting a site.

You’ll need the free Coalface Tasks plugin installed on your WordPress site, and admin access to both the site and your Coalface workspace.

1. Install the plugin

On your WordPress site, install and activate the Coalface Tasks plugin from the WordPress plugin directory (Plugins → Add New → search “Coalface Tasks”).

2. Start the connection from the hub

Connections are always started from Coalface, not from WordPress — that way there’s nothing to configure by hand on the WordPress side.

1. In Coalface, go to Settings → Integrations.
2. Choose Connect a WordPress site.
3. You’ll get a short setup code.

3. Paste the setup code into WordPress

In your WordPress admin, open the Coalface Tasks settings and paste the setup code. The plugin uses it to configure itself automatically — it registers with your workspace and sets up a secure signed connection in both directions.

Once it’s done, the site shows as connected in Settings → Integrations.

What happens next

• Both ways. Tasks created or updated on either side flow to the other.
• Secure. Every message between WordPress and Coalface is signed, so neither side accepts anything it can’t verify.
• Sync mode. Coalface decides whether a connection is two-way or read-only. You can change this per site.

Disconnecting

When you disconnect a site, Coalface asks whether to keep the synced tasks or remove them, so you’re always in control of what stays. You can reconnect later and choose how to pick things back up.

The short version: install the free plugin, start the connection from Settings → Integrations in Coalface, and paste the setup code into WordPress. From then on, tasks sync both ways automatically.
